چکیده
We show the existence of travelling wave solutions for a lubrication model of surfactant-driven flow of a thin liquid film down an inclined plane, in various parameter regimes. Our arguments use geometric singular perturbation theory. Mathematics Subject Classification: 76D08, 34B16, 34B40, 34C37 (Some figures in this article are in colour only in the electronic version)

Instabilities of Thin Viscous Liquid Film Flowing down a Uniformly Heated Inclined Plane
Instabilities of a thin viscous film flowing down a uniformly heated plane are investigated in this study. The heating generates a surface tension gradient that induces thermocapillary stresses on the free surface. Thus, the film is not only influenced by gravity and mean surface tension but also the thermocapillary force is acting on the free surface. Moreover, the heat transfer at the free su...
متن کاملThe Motion of a Thin Liquid Film Driven by Surfactant and Gravity
We investigate wave solutions of a lubrication model for surfactant-driven flow of a thin liquid film down an inclined plane. We model the flow in one space dimension with a system of nonlinear PDEs of mixed hyperbolic-parabolic type in which the effects of capillarity and surface diffusion are neglected. Numerical solutions reveal distinct patterns of waves that are described analytically by c...
متن کاملFormation of patterns induced by thermocapillarity and gravity
Consider a liquid film on a slightly inclined plane driven by gravity and thermocapillarity. We derive an equation describing the nonlinear evolution of the interface between the liquid and the atmosphere. In line with an approach introduced by us elsewhere we preserve the full impact of the curvature that contributes toward formation of bubbles and together with convection induced by the incli...

Analysis of intrinsic irreversibility and heat transfer in a buoyancy-driven changeable viscosity liquid along an incline heated wall with convective cooling taking into consideration the heated isothermal and isoflux wall is investigated. By Newton’s law of cooling, we assumed the free surface exchange heat with environment and fluid viscosity is exponentially dependent on temperature. Appropr...
متن کاملMode instabilities and dynamic patterns in a colony of self-propelled surfactant particles covering a thin liquid layer.
We consider a colony of point-like self-propelled surfactant particles (swimmers) without direct interactions that cover a thin liquid layer on a solid support. The particles predominantly swim normal to the free film surface with only a small component parallel to the film surface. The coupled dynamics of the swimmer density and film height profile is captured in a long-wave model allowing for...
